Hola a todos, les habla Eaadim y hoy... vamos a hablar de Batman!
Hi everybody!! This is Eaadim and today... we are going to talk about Batman!
Dentro del género de
superheroes, Batman siempre ha recibido un trato privilegiado respecto al resto, es más fácil encontrar comic de calidad
protagonizados por el hombre murciélago que de sus compañeros en
DC, y sus películas se toman mucho más en serio que las del resto
(aunque entiendo que esto ahora sea discutible gracias a los
Vengadores). Los videojuegos no son una excepción y desde los 16
bits, disfrutamos de sus aventuras, que por lo general, ensombrecen a
los títulos que comparten el mismo género. Precisamente hoy os
vengo a hablar de uno que marcó un antes y un después de lo que
sería encarnar al Caballero Oscuro en su incesante lucha contra el
crimen.
Within the genre of superheroes, Batman has always received special treatment from the rest, it is easier to find quality comic which the star is Batman, not like other DC characters, and when he has films, those are taken much more seriously than the rest (although we know that now there are the Avengers too). Video games are no exception in this rule; we could play with him from the 16-bit, and Batman´s games usually overshadow the titles that share the same gender. Today I´m gonna talk about one that is a mark, special, in the history and story abput the Dark Knight in his fight against crime.

Todo comienza como deben
hacerlo las historias en Gotham City, con una fría y lluviosa noche
y un plan bien trazado por una de las mentes criminales más
brillantes de la ciudad...
Everything start like the stories in Gotham City have to do it, with a cold and rainy night and a good plan laid out by one of the most brilliant criminal minds of the city...
Es una noche estresante
para ser un agente de policía, incluso más de lo habitual; por una
parte, en Blackgate, la prisión de máxima seguridad de Gotham, un
desafortunado incendio ha inutilizado buena parte de las
instalaciones y ha obligado a trasladar a una respetable suma de
presos hasta el Psiquiátrico de Arkham, y por otra, el Joker ha
visto frustrado su asalto a la oficina del alcalde, por lo que horas
más tarde ingresa en el asilo de la mano de nuestro enmascarado
justiciero. Ni que decir tiene que el grueso de la autoridad de la
ciudad está concentrado en el viejo Arkham por uno u otro motivo, y
que como supondréis, el incendio, el traslado y la captura del joker
son partes de un único plan, uno que mantendrá en vilo a la
indefensa población de Gotham, y que deberemos impedir durante el
trascurso de la noche, afortunadamente, Batman no es de los que creen
en las casualidades...
It's a stressful night to be a police officer, even more than usual. On the one hand, in Blackgate, the maximum security prison in Gotham, an unfortunate fire has crippled a big part of the prison, and forced to move to a big part of the prisoners to Arkham Asylum. And secondly, the Joker has been stopped in his assault on the mayor's office, so the same night he entered in the asylum thanks to our masked avenger. Needless to say that the most important part of the authority of the city is concentrated in the old Arkham for one reason or another, and as you will suppose, the fire, the transfer and the capture of the Joker are parts of a single plan, one that will keep the defenseless population of Gotham in suspense. We should stop that during the night, fortunately, Batman doesn´t believe in coincidences ...
Y así, los primeros
minutos de juego los pasamos acompañando al Joker, al Alcaide Sharp
y al Comisario Gordon hasta las tripas del monstruoso edificio, donde
finalmente les sobreviene el inevitable desenlace; aprovechando un
fugaz descuido, el villano se deshace de los guardias que lo retienen
y se pierde en el laberinto de salas del manicomio. Para cuando
Batman entra en escena, Harley Quinn se a encargado de cubrir la
retirada del Joker, dejando claro quien tiene ahora el control de las
instalaciones del edificio, lo que incluye medidas de seguridad,
accesos a zonas restringidas, armamento, comunicaciones con el
exterior...
So, the first few minutes of the videogame we will spent accompanying the Joker, the Warden Sharp and Commissioner Gordon to that building, where they live the the inevitable event... Joker takes advantage of a lil neglect, and the villain gets rid of the guards who retained and run away and get lost in the huge asylum. When Batman enters in the scene, Harley Quinn is a charge to cover the retreat of her lovely Joker, making it clear who is now with the control of the building...

Recapitulemos, somos la
encarnación de la justicia, el frente en lo que a la lucha criminal
se refiere, y estamos atrapados con lo peor de Blackgate, que no ve
el momento de ponernos las manos encima y clamar venganza, por no
hablar de la población de supercriminales que ha dado con sus huesos
en Arkham gracias a nosotros, sí, la noche va a ser dura y larga,
apretad los dientes.
Let's recap, we are The justice, fighting with the criminals, and now we're stuck with the worst of Blackgate, who can not wait to get our neck, crying vengeance... and... Did i mention the population of supercriminales that are in Arkham thanks to you??? Yup, the night is going to be hard and very long...
Suerte que no estamos
completamente solos en la empresa, Oráculo cubrirá nuestras
espaldas, facilitándonos información bien detallada sobre todo lo
que acontece tanto en la ciudad como en el propio centro
psiquiátrico, por su parte, algunos hombres fieles a nuestra causa,
lo que incluye al Comisario Gordon, harán cuanto esté en su mano
por facilitarnos las cosas, aunque honestamente, bien podrían
haberse quedado al margen. Por último dispondremos de un buen
arsenal de gadgets que se convertirán en la peor pesadilla de los
hombres del Joker.
Lucky that we are not alone in that company, Oracle will cover our backs, providing us detailed and good information of everything that happens, both in the city and in the psychiatric center. Meanwhile, some good men to our cause, which includes the Commissioner Gordon, will do everything in his power to make things easier, but honestly, I wish they would stay out. Finally we will have a good arsenal of gadgets that will become the worst nightmare for Joker's men.
Durante nuestros primeros
pasos por los oscuros recovecos del centro psiquiátrico iremos
siendo conscientes de la envergadura de los planes de nuestro risueño
archienemigo, Oráculo nos hará saber que los hombres del Joker han
dispuesto una serie de bombas a lo largo de Gotham City que detonarán
en caso de intervenir en los asuntos que atañen a Arkham, lo que
Batman termina entendiendo como un farol, pero que aún así cumple
bien su cometido, aislar la isla mientras los acontecimientos
transcurren al margen de posibles interrupciones.
During our first steps into the darkest parts of the psychiatric center we will be aware of the scale of the plans of our smiling archenemy, Oracle will let us know that the Joker's men have arranged a series of bombs across Gotham City that will detonate if someone try to intervene in Arkham, Batman didn´t belive it, but he did his duty and isolate the islan.
Como cabe esperar, la
banda del Joker, reunida bajo la dirección del mismo gracias al
evento en Blackgate, se a apostado en una posición claramente
ventajosa por toda la isla, y han podido acceder a la reserva
armamentística del lugar, por lo que nuestro enemigo nos supera en
numero y recursos, exigiéndonos proceder con extrema cautela en
según que casos, a la vez que realizamos nuestras pesquisas sobre lo
que tiene en mente el nuevo dueño y señor del asilo.
As expected, the band's Joker, united thanks to the plans of the their lider, begin with a clearly advantageous position over the island, and they could access to the reserve of arms of the place, so our enemy outnumbers us and our resources, requiring us to proceed with extreme caution, while we conduct our investigation trying to know the real plans of the new master of the asylum.
Y así, los
acontecimientos nos permitirán seguir una linea investigativa que
terminará revelando los planes del Joker, centrados esta vez en
Titán, un compuesto químico derivado de la fórmula que usa Bane, y
que otorgaría al enemigo un ejercito de superhombres con el que
sumir Gotham en el caos, a lo que se suma la idea de verter los
residuos de la sustancia en el agua que se distribuye desde los
abastecimientos de Gotham. En resumidas cuentas, un plan que una vez
puesto en marcha tendría difícil solución y que obliga a Batman a
golpear con todo.
So, the events allow us to follow a line of researchs that will end revealing Joker plans, focusing this plans, this time, on Titan, a chemical derivative of the Bane´s formula, and that would give the enemy the power of supermen with which bring Gotham into the chaos, and with the add that Joker has the idea to pour the remains of the Titan in Gotham´s water. A big plan that makes Batman works like tomorrow would not exist.

A estas alturas de juego
ya nos queda claro que la mecánica del juego nos permite
,principalmente, hacer las cosas de dos maneras, más una tercera
complementaria:
Por una parte Batman está
hecho un toro y si lo coges de malas pobre de ti si decide calentarse
los nudillos con tu cráneo, y es que con un poco de habilidad
podremos sembrar el caos a nuestro paso, con la ayuda de nuestros
gadgets podremos destruir la moral de los matones del Joker antes de
que sepan que les ocurrió, y es que en pocos juegos te quedas tan a
gusto estampándole una coz borriquera en la garganta al listillo que
cree que puede sorprendernos por detrás. Además las opciones son
variadísimas y llegará el momento en el que te gustaría tener la
opción de invocar más enemigos para machacarlos sin piedad, por
ejemplo, podemos iniciar un combate propinando tres golpes al matón
más impaciente, luego saltar sobre el más cercano, aturdir al
siguiente con nuestra capa y usar el triple batgarfio para
desestabilizar al resto y a partir de ahí, todos son huesos rotos y
peticiones de auxilio, lo dicho, un gustazo.
At this point in the game it's clear that the game mechanics allows us mainly do things in two different ways, plus a third complementary:
In one hand Batman is like a "bull" (like we said in Spain when someone is so strong) and he hasn´t a bad temper, so with a lil skill we can be a real enemy to all to Joker´s followers, and if we use our batgadgets our fight it´s more effective.
Our fighting options are a lot and all of them are as cool as you really want more and more enemies so you can try all them. It is soooo cool to try them and combine them.
Por otra, podemos
convertirnos en el señor del sigilo y acabar con el enemigo sin que
nos detecte, esto es especialmente divertido pues los matones se lo
harán encima cuando comprueben que cada vez son menos y que a todos
les llegará el turno de ser eliminados cuando menos se lo esperen, y
es que tampoco escasean los recursos aquí, eliminaciones por la
espalda, desde las cornisas, desde las alturas, gadgets que
desorientan a los hombres del Joker, explosivos a distancia, gárgolas
donde ocultar tu rastro... Es cierto que es algo más difícil que
liarte a tortas, pero cuando un grupo numeroso de hombres ha caído
sin saber qué les ocurrió y te diriges impasible a la siguiente
sala, te parecerá ver sonreír por primera vez al hombre
murciélago...
Furthermore, we can become the master of stealth and kill the enemy without being detected, this is especially fun because it will become a real fear for the enemies when they see tghey are less and less and they only have to wait to be eliminated. You can use all the scenario to do that and enjoy with it hehe and i recommend you to use the gadgets and all you want because it is a super fun way of play the game.
It is true that it is more difficult than the direct way of fight but it is exciting too (in fact this is super exciting)
Por último, con poco que
hayáis visto en el cómic o en las películas, sabréis que este
superhéroe tiene una faceta investigativa muy marcada, que es algo
que no se pasa por alto en el juego. Para ello tendremos que
centrarnos en el modo detective, uno de los avances tecnológicos más
evolucionados del traje de Batman, que nos dará información
instantánea de todo lo que nos rodea y que nos resultará
imprescindible en según que momentos para seguir pistas tan
concretas como el rastro de tabaco que nos irá dejando el Comisario
Gordon, por no decir que combina a la perfección con el modo sigilo
o incluso durante los combates, ya que sabremos claramente que
enemigo va armado, que pared o suelo es susceptible de ser destruido,
donde hay una trampa, donde una rejilla por la que podamos meternos,
incluso nos permitirá ver a nuestros enemigos a través de las
paredes...
Finally, if you´ve seen the comic or the movies, you have knew that he has a detective part, in fact you can read that part of his enemies call him "detective" and in this game you can see that part. In the detective mode we could use super advanced technology of Waine Industry, get instant information of all around us and follow all the details, searching dor the Commissioner Gordon too. And this mode is perfect to use with the stealth one, because even during the fighting we could know a lot of details, if the enemy have arms, if you can destroy some wall, where are traps....

Respecto al apartado
visual, tanto a nivel técnico como artístico el juego es un lujo,
la recreación de las diferentes localizaciones del manicomio es
fantástica, todo el escenario se adapta a la perfección a la
mecánica de juego planteada, a la vez que evoca a lo visto en los
cómic. Cada zona es perfectamente identificable, pero todas respetan
una misma atmósfera gótica y decadente que impide que te salgas del
ambiente de juego. Por su parte, los enemigos y jefes finales no
desentonan en absoluto con el entorno, viviremos momentos
espectaculares como los reiterados encuentros con El Espantapájaros,
pero luchar contra una horda de enemigos será uno de nuestros
pasatiempos favoritos, especialmente cuando nos familiaricemos con
los controles.
Y si a esto le sumamos
una banda sonora que se adapta perfectamente a cada momento de la
aventura y un reparto de doblaje de película, la puesta en escena es
sobresaliente.
In the visual section, the technically and artistically the game is a luxury, the recreation of the different locations of the asylum is fantastic, the whole scenario fits perfectly with the mechanics of the game, and at the same time it´s like in the comic. Each zone is perfectly identifiable, but all respect the decadent and gothic atmosphere of the game. Meanwhile, the enemies and bosses all fit with that environment, we could live spectacular moments like with the Scarecrow, but fighting against a horde of enemies will be one of our favorite pastimes, especially when you become familiar with the controls.
And if we add a soundtrack that perfectly fits every moment of adventure and a great dubbing cast, the result is outstanding.

A regañadientes Hiedra
nos facilitará la información que necesitamos para sintetizar la
vacuna con la que contrarrestar Titán, y tras jugarnos el tipo con
El Cocodrilo Asesino para conseguir los ingredientes necesarios,
podremos regresar a la Batcueva y reaprovisionarnos a la vez que
obtenemos una sola dosis de la cura, con la que hacer frente a la
amenaza del Joker, no antes de ajustar las cuentas con Hiedra, cuyas
plantas han ido arrasando el asilo y de paso parte del equipo que
teníamos a buen recaudo en la batcueva...
A very reluctant Poison Ivy will provide us with the information we need to synthesize the vaccine with which fight Titan and after "play" with Crocodile to get the ingredients, we can return to the our Batcave and prepare the dose of the cure, but after going to see the Joker we will have to see our particular Ivy ´cause her plants are part of the problem in the asylum too.
Llegados a este punto,
Gotham no puede esperar más, es hora de vencer o morir intentándolo,
el Joker te espera, sabes que tiene algo grande entre manos para ti,
pero estás preparado, así que entras y te reúnes con el paciente
estrella de Arkham, y de paso con el maltrecho Comisario.
At this point, Gotham cannot wait more, it's time to win or die fighting, the Joker is waiting us, you know that he has something really big for you and you are prepared for that so you go for it.
Todo ocurre, como suele
pasar cuando la tensión es tal, a una velocidad endiablada; derrotas
a los hombres más fieles del Joker, los supervivientes que por uno u
otro motivo, han sabido cobijarse hasta ahora de tu furia justiciera,
y cuando encaras al Joker tienes que interceptar un tiro cargado con
Titán para Gordon, con lo que no te queda otra que usar la vacuna,
perdiendo nuestro principal baluarte contra los planes del enemigo y
quedando a merced del Payaso, que gracias a la toxina ahora goza de
una fuerza privilegiada con la que hacerte pedazos. De esta manera te
ves inmerso en una batalla final a la desesperada, superado por el
enemigo y con una única carta en la mano, tu ingenio: rápido como
un rayo el Caballero Oscuro envuelve su puño en lo que queda de gel
explosivo y sorprende al Joker con un derechazo en la mandíbula, el
efecto es inmediato, el Joker cree haber sido arrollado por un
trailer, cuando quiere darse cuenta de lo ocurrido ya va camino de
las instalaciones más seguras de Arkham mientras las autoridades
procuran recuperar la normalidad de las instalaciones, Gotham está
salvada, es hora de volver a la mansión y remendarte, ahora que tus
conciudadanos están a salvo de la amenaza de los supervillanos, de
momento...
Everything happens as often happens when the stress is super high, quickly more than you can think, you will have to fight the best (or worst) Joker´s men, the ones who survive to you till now and when you are finally with the Joker you have to use your single dosis of the cure with Gordon ´cause the evil Joker shot him with Titan. You lose your plan and now you are at the mercy of the clown... that is now full of power thanks to the toxine in his own body. In this moment you are immersed in a desperate battle, overcome by the enemy and with a single plan... your wit. Fast as a lightning the Dark Knight use in his fist a remainder of the explosive gel he has and surprises Joker with a hard punch in his jaw, the effect is immediate... The Joker feels like a train pass over him and when he realise he is in the new safer part of Arkham again.
Gotham is saved... so it´s time to come back to the Waine´s mansion and have some rest.... because you never will know when could be another hard night like this...

More than I thought
Por último me gustaría
hablar de algunos detalles secundarios que enriquecen mucho la
experiencia:
In the end I wanna speak about the details that i think do this game better.
El primero y más
destacable es la intervención de Enigma, este conocido supervillano
nos planteará un reto monumental que solo podremos superar afilando
mucho nuestro ingenio, siendo pacientes y teniendo algo de culturilla
sobre el mundo del cómic que rodea a Batman. Y es que en el fondo no
es más que un guiño a los seguidores más fieles del hombre
murciélago y que, desde mi punto de vista, se agradece mucho, a la
vez que da más variedad al título. En cualquier caso es algo
completamente opcional que nos dará algunas horas extra de juego, si
no nos importa barrer el mapeado en el modo detective y ser tenaces
con los detalles.
First of all and the most important for me is the intervention of Enigma, this well-known supervillain will challenge us a lot of times, and only with our patient and wit (and the things we know about the Batman world) we could overcome all the enigmas. This is a real tribute to all of us who loves the comic, for all the followers. From my point of view this is such a detail and i really appreciated, giving it something special. It´s true that is completely optional to do this kind of things but that is the thing, that is the mark which do this detail special.
Por otro lado el juego
nos ofrecerá a modo de recompensa una extensa galería que incluirá
archivos de audio sobre las entrevistas hechas a los pacientes de
Arkham, modelos en tres dimensiones , retos de sigilo y combate a
diferentes dificultades, información extra en texto...
In other hand the game will reward us with an extensive gallery, with audio files of the patients of Arkham which will do the things more three-dimensional, this kind of details are the best from my point of view, because you do and know more than combat the villains. And much more, the game allow us to do stealths challenges, different types of fights...
Finalmente, una mención
especial para el nivel de detalle, y es que cuando un juego llega a
este margen de calidad es en el mimo que se la puesto a los pequeños
detalles donde se nota que el estudio se lo ha pasado en grande con
él, elementos como los desgarros que va presentando el traje de
Batman a lo largo de la noche, las celdas de personajes que no
aparecen en el juego como Dos Caras o el Hombre Calendario, la manera
de hacer frente al Espantapájaros, la interacción con Oráculo, el
amplio repertorio de gadgets y mejoras, el cementerio que hay en la
zona central, donde puedes ver la lápida de Arkham, el contorno de
Gotham a lo lejos... un sin fin de detalles que solo notarías si los
quitasen pero que en el fondo hacen el resultado final mucho más
sólido y creíble.
Finally, I want to do a special mention to the level of the details and now I am talking about ALL the types of the details you can see, for me it´s clear that the studio had a great time doing this game, and when you play it you enjoy it more thanks to that, thanks to all the things like the Calendar Man or Two-Face jails, the way you have to deal with Scarecrow, the interaction with Oracle, all the gadgets you have,... hundreds and hundreds of details that do an awsome result.
Y hasta aquí el repaso a
Batman Arkham Asylum, espero haber revivido algunos recuerdos de este
título en vosotros, y animar al resto que no lo jugó a darle una
merecida oportunidad, ha sido un placer charlar un poco sobre él, un
abrazo.
